DescriptionThis child-size chair includes a continuous shaped crest rail curving into arm rests that end in simple flat terminals. Eleven turned and tapered spindles radiate from the seat to the crest rail, with a pair of heavier bamboo turned arm supports. The shaped saddle seat rests atop bamboo turned splayed legs braced with simple dowel turned side and rear stretchers. The chair was originally painted dark green, but later changed to red with gold striping and highlights.
NotesAssociation accession records indicate that this diminutive child's Windsor chair came from the Van Brunt family of Monmouth County.
