Curatorial RemarksA card attached to the upper stretcher of the portrait reads “Painted by / Harvey Jenkins / completed / June 1854.” This is one of four related Borden/Hendrickson family portraits given by the donors. NotesMary Ellen Borden (1833 - 1916) was the daughter of Charles D. and Mary Ann Morris Borden, and bears a resemblance to her mother. She became the wife of James Holmes Hendrickson of Red Bank, and died there in 1916.
