DescriptionA utility type quilt in a Snowball variation, with a hand-pieced center medallion consisting of 25 snowball blocks set five by five, surrounded by a narrow green and white checked cotton print border, then by a wide One Patch field in an assortment of wool scraps. The backing is of printed red and brown cotton and is pinned with the front edges turned to the back, but never completed.Curatorial RemarksUtility quilts relied on bright colors and simple patterns, resulting in a cheerful covering for warmth, quickly made. This quilt was never finished by its unknown maker, who made good use of a wide range of wool scraps and cotton fabrics.
