DescriptionA compass consisting of a rotating bakelite dial, painted to show the four cardinal directions, each separated by 90 degrees. A glass bevel, incised with a small directional arrow, is heavily cracked. Attached to the dial is a an adjustable leather wrist strap with brass buckle.Curatorial RemarksThis wrist compass was worn by Walter G. Denise (1921 - 2001) of Freehold, Monmouth County. Denise served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medal for his service.
