Curatorial RemarksLike the companion portrait presumed to be his wife (1994.581), nothing is known about the subject of this likeness. He is holding a newspaper, the partial title of which reads “. . . ster Chronicle.” Attempts have been made to identify the publication, so far without success. Association records are silent on how or when the portrait entered the collection, although it does appear in interior photographs of the museum taken in the mid-1970s.
