DescriptionA woman's two piece day dress, comprised of a fitted bodice with a draped and pleated overskirt in a vivid shade of deep purple lightweight wool and a matching skirt. The bodice is constructed to resemble a sleeveless long vest over a vertically pleated front. Dark purple velvet makes up the sleeves, yoke, standing collar, and band of trim along the waist. The waist front is edged with heavy purple cord and tassel fringe. The bodice is fastened with hidden hooks and eyes along the proper front left side. Wide bands of black wool cut in Gothic Revival tracery motifs are applied along the bodice skirt edge. The separate skirt has a fitted waistband with a rear hook and eye closure. The bottom third of the skirt has a wide area of applied black wool Gothic Revival tracery motifs, matching those on the gown's bodice skirts. The bodice interior is lined with glazed brown cotton.
