DescriptionA small, circular silver medal attached to a purple and white grosgrain ribbon with brass pin. On the front, "FREEHOLD" is relief engraved in a banner at the top, and "MILITARY SCHOOL" at bottom. The center design depicts an eagle, wings outstretched, perched upon a shield consisting of 13 stars atop vertical stripes. A sword and a rifle cross each other behind the shield. On verso, engraved lettering reads "SENIOR / 1933."NotesIn 1900, Colonel Charles J. Wright purchased the Freehold Young Ladies Seminary in Freehold, Monmouth County, and reopened it as the Freehold Military Academy. The Academy stressed a military-style education and strict discipline in order to prepare young boys for college.
