DescriptionA drum with wooden rims painted red; the front panel depicts an eagle with outstretched wings on a blue background, holding a white-edged red ribbon in its beak and clutching a set of arrows in proper left talon. On the bird's chest is a shield with a blue top and red and white stripes, and above its head a group of white stars. A brownish yellow banner with red highlighted sunrays arches overhead. Off-white twisted cording threads through the top and bottom rims. Remnants of leather straps remain on the cording.NotesAccording to accession records, this drum was used by Joseph LaMotte in the Civil War, as well as by his son in the Spanish American War.
