DescriptionA six board commode chair for a child, the back of which has a shaped crest. The sides form curved arm rests, while the bases of the back, side and front boards have been cut out to resemble bracket feet. A detached seat board covers the actual seat that contains a centered shaped cut out. The chair has been grain painted.Curatorial RemarksThis chair could serve as a regular seat for a small child, as well as a commode chair during toilet training. A removable board seat covers the fixed seat with a cut out, which would have a shallow tin pan set on the floor beneath it when in toilet training use. The grain painting on the chair is its original finish.
