DescriptionView of a long one story blacksmith shop painted white, with a red painted double door, red painted single door, two small red painted windows with closed shutters, and one double window with sash painted red. Two sky lights appear in the brown wood shingled roof. The foreground contains a line of low growing bushes in the right center, and another cluster in the lower left. Flowering plants grow against the left hand portion of the structure. Trees and a telephone pole form the background behind the shop. The sky is mottled blue.
NotesThe Middletown blacksmith shop stands at the southwest corner of Kings Highway and Conover Avenue in Middletown village, Monmouth County. It dates from the early nineteenth century, and has been owned for many years by Christ Episopal Church. The watercolor depicts the south elevation of the structure.
