NotesJames Lefferts Brinckerhoff of New York was born in 1791, a son of Abraham and Dorothea Remsen Brinckerhoff. He married Charlotte Troup in 1815 and died in 1846. Brinckerhoff was a partner with his brother Abraham Jr. in a dry goods business in New York City.
