DescriptionA corner chair that was fitted with a chamber pot, three of the four square tapered legs continue into column turned supports for the flat continuous crest rail and arms. Two vase shaped splats insert into the crest rail, and into a molded shoe. The deep skirt to hide the chamber pot has an elaborate cutout design on its lower edge the features a half circle in the center. Two sections of the frame that held the chamber pot remain attached to the inside seat rails.Curatorial RemarksThe slip seat frame on this chair was deepened when the chamber pot features were removed in order to sit securely on remaining parts of the frame attached to the seat rails. Unlike many other corner chamber chairs, the skirt on this example was not altered following removal of the chamber pot.
