DescriptionAn upholstered side chair called a back stool with the seat and square arched back covered in olive green corded wool fabric, the back couched with eight buttons. The frame of the chair consists of chamfered square legs with enclosed stretchers in mahogany, and secondary wood of maple or cherry. The original foundation upholstery remains on the back with remnants of its silk cover fabric attached to the original cast shank brass tacks that were reused when the chair was recovered in the present green "rep" fabric. The foundation upholstery of the seat has been replaced.
Curatorial RemarksMuch evidence survives of the original upholstery treatment on this back stool. The original foundation upholstery remains on the back, and remnants of the original silk cover are still attached to the original cast shank brass tacks. The tacks were reused when the chair was recovered with the present green "rep" fabric and tape.
