DescriptionThe table has a rectangular top with molded edges and ovolu corners. A single shallow drawer below the top features molded front edges and a single central brass pull (the bail is missing). The drawer bottom has been replaced. Front and end skirt panels have small central pendants plus small bracket ends where the skirts meet the corner leg blocks. Leg block edges have been molded. The blocks extend to rounded and tapered turned legs that end in pointed double pad feet.Curatorial RemarksThe pointed pad feet of this one drawer dressing table are consistent with feet found on furniture from the Middletown area of Monmouth County. Like other examples, there is in effect a second pad underneath the main foot, defined on this small table by a incised horizontal line. For a related dressing table, see accession number 1979.7.2.NotesA pencil inscription on the inside drawer bottom reads in part " . . . / from / his grandmother / Haskell / 1931." The name, which has been intentionally obscured, was probably the source from whom Mrs. J. Amory Haskell acquired the table.
