DescriptionThe arm chair back features four graduated slats with high arched crests, shaped and beveled top edges, and straight cut bottom edges. Plain turned rear stiles end in ball shaped finials capped with a nipple. Undercut arms are supported by baluster turnings that are part of the plain front posts. All four legs have simple tapered feet. Pairs of dowel turned front, side, and rear stretchers brace the lower frame. The woven rush seat is an old replacement.Curatorial RemarksAlthough a relatively simple example of a Delaware Valley area slat back arm chair, this particular chair shows few signs of wear even though it has been refinished. All four feet remain intact.
